Overall Conference

Where will the conference registration take place?
NCSL registration will take place in the 4th floor lobby of the Hyatt Regency Boston.

What should I wear?
The recommended dress during the conference is casual yet respectful. Remember, you are representing your organization and school while at the conference. We recommend nice jeans, khakis, and school logo apparel. Hotel meeting rooms tend to be on the chilly side, so you may want to bring layers.

How will I know which workshops to attend?
It’s entirely up to you. We have a wide variety of workshops available and we encourage you to attend workshops on topics you’re interested in. We have workshop tracks to guide you in your decisions. Check out the workshops and track descriptions here.

Should I bring business cards?
Definitely. It’s a great way to keep in touch with the other National Center for Student Leadership participants and presenters after the conference. There are many websites available on which you can create your own business cards if they aren’t provided by your organization.

I’ve been to the conference more than once, is there a way I can get more involved?
Yes, thanks for asking. We would love to have you get more involved. Contact us at support@ncslcollege.com to learn how.

I’m the only one from my school attending the conference – will it be hard to meet people?
You will be fine! You won’t be the only “single” person there. And remember, the conference is designed for getting to know people from across the country – sharing ideas, brainstorming, and learning together.

What should I bring?
Bring with you a positive attitude and knowledge of ideas, events, or programs that work for your college or university. If you meant “what tangible items should I bring?” then our answer would be business cards, a notebook (although some notepaper and pens are provided), and a school or organization shirt to show off school pride. You can also bring a camera, your computer, and anything else you need to get by for four days.

How many people will be at the conference?
We’re expecting over 400 participants to attend the National Center for Student Leadership conference in Boston.

Will I get more information about the conference as it draws nearer?
Yes! You can make that possible by clearing the suffix “@ncslmail.com” with your email provider. We’ll send you periodic update emails as the conference nears.

Will we have any free time?

What can we do during our free time?
Our host city, Boston was named by USA Today as one of the top ten great places to drink in scenery. With rooftop establishments featuring 100-mile views on clear nights it’s easy to see why Boston is more than just “Bean Town”. While in Boston, you’ll discover neighborhoods with distinct character, skyscrapers nestle next to historic hotels while modern marketplaces line the antique cobblestone streets. Here are just a few of the most popular attractions:

Boston Common (.12 miles from hotel) One of the oldest parks in the country and the start of the Freedom Trail

Faneuil Hall Marketplace (.50 miles from hotel) Over 100 shops and 50 eateries within walking distance

Museum of Science (.70 miles from hotel) Features a revolving schedule of Imax films, temporary exhibitions and planetarium shows

New England Aquarium (.88 miles from hotel) One of the most prominent and popular aquariums in the US
