Overall Conference
Where will the conference registration take place? Registration for the National Center for Student Leadership conference takes place at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.
What should I wear? We recommend business casual to professional dress for conference events. Business casual includes nice jeans, khakis, and shirts with collars for men. Wear school logo apparel on school spirit day. (Hotel meeting rooms can be chilly so you may want to bring layers.)
How will I know which workshops to attend? It’s entirely up to you. We have a wide variety of orkshops available and we encourage you to attend workshops on topics you’re interested in.
Should I bring business cards? Definitely.
It’s a great way to keep in touch with the other National Center for Student Leadership participants and presenters after the conference.
There are many websites available on which you can create your own business cards if they aren’t provided by your organization.
I’ve been to the conference more than once, is there a way I can get more involved? Yes, thanks for asking. We would love to have you get more involved. Contact us at support@ncslcollege.com to learn how.
I’m the only one from my school attending the conference – will it be hard to meet people? You will be fine!
You won’t be the only “single” person there.
And remember, the National Center for Student Leadership conference is designed for getting to know people from across the country – sharing ideas, brainstorming, and learning together.
What should I bring? Bring with you a positive attitude and knowledge of ideas, events, or programs that work for your college or university. If you meant “what tangible items should I bring?,” then our answer would be business cards, a notebook, a tablet computer, and a school or organization shirt to show off school pride.
How many people will be at the conference? We’re expecting over 800 participants to attend the Fall 2013 National Center for Student Leadership conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Will I get more information about the conference as it draws nearer? Yes! You can make that possible by clearing the suffix “@ncslmail.com” with your email provider. We’ll send you periodic update emails as the conference nears.

Will we have any free time? Of course. We wouldn’t want you to come to this great destination and not be able to explore the area a bit. On Friday, the conference program concludes at 3:00 p.m. This gives you a whole evening to yourself.
What can we do during our free time? In New Orleans you’ll experience the most celebrated and historic core of the city – including:
- The Faubourg Marigny
- The French Quarter
- Central Business District
- Warehouse and Arts District
- Magazine Street corridor
- Garden District
- The beautiful St. Charles Avenue, lined with shady oaks, stately homes and historic mansions … a place like no other … a sensory overload with an authentic spirit … a way of life that began three centuries ago and remains today.
