You might call them "nerds," "geeks," or "gamers" and they are on your campus! They are busy tackling their enemies on Xbox, Playstation, or in World of Warcraft. They may have an online community, but do they have an in-person one on your campus? According to a recent survey done at CSU Fresno, 31.9% of students identified positively with being a part of the geek culture and 45.6% looked on Geek culture positively.
So what are you doing on your campus to reach out to the geeks on your campus?
Learn how to better meet their needs with Student Engagement Tactics for Geeks, Nerds and Gamers, a 60-minute audio online seminar on CD with award-winning presenter, Ryan McRae.
Ryan shares his experience with geeks on his campus, being one himself. He will explain how to identify and program for geeks in order to have them experience the development they need. Ryan will share current research from campus surveys as well as qualitative evidence, seeing geeks form tribes on his own campus.
Geek Culture 101
Ryan explains the history of geeks, what they are interested in, how to relate to them and create relevant programs that appeal to this underserved and, at times, marginalized population.
Who is this program for?
This beginning level seminar is great for any kind of programmer on your campus. Anyone involved in creating lasting college experiences would benefit.
