Oops as Opportunities

Oops! Leadership mistakes happen, but they usually are not the “epic fail” we make them out to be.

“Oops opportunities” often provide rich learning and discovery about what is or is not working well for you and your team.

Learn how to avoid the “oops” and ways to use the “oops” experience as a tool to maximize your effectiveness as a leader in this National Center for Student Leadership trainer, led by Kristin Skarie.

You can minimize the drama by knowing the right time for apologies and learn how to restore relationships with simple yet profound tools for maintaining peace and productivity.

This program will show you how to:

  • Calm your inner critic – ways to go easy on yourself in the midst of a learning opportunity.
  • Explore how to “slow down to speed up” – think then talk.
  • Explore ways to maneuver the culture and politics on your campus to be a savvy leader.
  • Uncover possible blindspot barriers to bring your best to your team.

Help your team move forward through challenging situations and build relationships in the process.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn how to view mistakes as learning opportunities.
  2. Examine when and how to implement “do-overs” and apologies.
  3. Identify three ways to use constructive criticism to your advantage.
